Calling all makers, artists and creators: Sign up for SOCSD’s School Maker Faire!
Students in grades K-12 are encouraged to sign up and showcase the creative, imaginative and innovative science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) projects they’ve been working on:
- High-tech, low-tech or no tech experiments, art and inventions are welcome
- New and beginner makers are encouraged to share their creations!
- Makers can register projects they’ve worked on in school or on their own
SOCSD’s 5th annual School Maker Faire will be held on Thursday, March 8, 6:30-8:30 pm in the Tappan Zee High School gym to accommodate as many makers as possible. Last year’s event drew a record 240+ participants–and we’re aiming for EVEN MORE this time! Click on the link to view projects from past years and sign up for our SOCSD School Maker Faire today! The deadline to register is February 28th.
Of the 300+ students signed up to present their creations, experiments, and projects last year, 51 projects involved approximately 80 students from William O. Schaefer! The evening was a wonderful opportunity for students of all ages to express their creativity and explore their interests and share them with others.
The mission of the SOCSD Maker Faire is to provide a venue for students to show off the creative, imaginative and innovative projects on which they have been working; to enable students, teachers, parents, and the community at-large to discover the incredible work of our SOCSD students; and to promote the vision of SOCSD to infuse STEAM disciplines across all curriculum while providing students with skills for the 21st Century.
Hope to see you there!
I can’t wait until the makerfair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I couldn’t agree more! It is one of my favorite nights of the year. Hope to see you there!
The makerfair is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
is it going to be postponed due to the weather?
I haven’t heard anything about it being postponed. Presuming that we have school, the Maker Faire should still be on!
