Thank you so much for attending Meet the Teacher night last night. I enjoyed meeting you and putting names with faces. There is always so much that I want to communicate to you and never enough time! I truly believe that education needs to be a partnership. Your kind words and warm smiles set the tone for a great evening. There was a lot of information to take in, including the many changes taking place in education today. I will do my best to provide resources and information to help give you a clear picture of the language of learning taking place in our classroom along with resources from time to time. Please do not hesitate to ask questions or provide feedback. Together, we can work to make this year a real success. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns throughout the year. I will always do my best to get back to you as soon as I can.
As I mentioned, I plan to use the class blog, email, and twitter as vehicles to share information, resources, and to communicate with you. In the coming months, the children will be asked to access the blog at various times as part of their homework. Please let me know if you do not have access and I will make alternate arrangements. Also, I neglected to mention last night that I plan to offer various workshops to be held after school periodically throughout the year. I will be seeking input from you to make sure that I am meeting your needs. More information will follow as the year progresses.
Other odds and ends:
- Please remember to send in field trip money, health walk permission slip, and any other outstanding forms if you have not done so already.
- Thank you to our volunteers for the Germ Smart program!
- The URL for the class blog is: http://staff.socsdblogs.org/rnerkizian/ and the twitter site is: https://twitter.com/MrsNerkizian. Everyone is encouraged to become a part of our extended classroom community.
First grade is a magical time and place. I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to work with your children and you this year. I look forward to an outstanding year with you and your families.
