Dear Class,
You are invited to our first-ever online Morning Meeting via Zoom Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. During the video conference Mr. C. and I will greet you and share about how distance learning will go for us. You will be able to say “hi” to your classmates, and there will be a panel on the right side where you can type questions and appropriate comments. The same rules of our usual morning meetings at school apply, so be courteous and kind. You may NOT record any part of our meeting (nor may anyone in your household record either); neither will we! No one may capture anyone’s image nor post it anywhere. Those are strict rules!

Online learning is like being in the classroom. You must dress appropriately and use your best manners. Listen and try not to speak while the moderator (teachers) or a classmate is speaking. Your parent may choose to mute your video so that we cannot see you, and only hear your voice. If you mute your microphone we will not be able to hear you, but you can still type questions on the chat panel. So find a comfy seat where there is a blank wall behind you, and then click the following link to log into our Zoom video conference Tuesday, March 31 at 10:00 in the morning Mr. C and I cannot wait to see you all!

I miss you already!  Please continue to read daily and complete the paper reading log for March you brought home. I will be activating a form on here where you can input your weekly reading response.
Work on Dreambox.com and your math activity book through unit 4.
For a while, put down the gaming controller if you have one. If you can get to your backyard or deck, sit near a tree. Be still. Be quiet. Listen. Look up! See the blue sky between the tree branches. Breathe deeply and smile. Say our mantra. “May I be happy.” “May I be safe.” “May I be strong.” “May I live with peace.”
Be helpful to your family anyway possible. How?  Look at what needs to get done and do it. Entertain yourself and siblings, if any. Write a scene and act it out for your family.  Call an elderly relative or neighbor.  Write and/or sketch in a journal.  Read, read. read!  Think of me, thinking of you.

How do we find our passion?

Myron Uhlberg wrote Dad,Jackie, and me and it is our book of the month.  This story of a young boy and his hearing-impaired father shows how their love of baseball—and their admiration for the newest player for the Brooklyn Dodgers, Jackie Robinson—brings them closer together.  As their shared passion for the great American pastime helps to deepen the relationship between father and son, it also deepens their understanding and acceptance of the differences between people.

• Take turns when there is something that nobody wants to do, or when more than one person wants to do the same thing

• Show appreciation to people for what they contribute
• Encourage others to do their best
• Make people feel important and needed. Working together is a lot more fun that way
• Don’t isolate or exclude anyone. Everybody has something valuable to offer, and nobody likes being left out
