Summer Reading 2022- Keep it Going!
Enjoy your summer, but stay active mentally and physically!
You are to continue reading through the summer months-it is UP to you to figure out what you would like to read.
Remember VOLUME is everything, the more you read, the better reader and writer you will become in the long run.
You should read as MANY books as you can this summer…set a goal for yourself!

Try…
-Reading about someone or something (topic or a cause) that inspires you
-Reading about a job/hobby/sport that you find intriguing
-Reading books that you enjoyed by the same author
-Type a book you loved in Amazon and see what else they recommend based on your love of that book
-ASK your friends…they are the best reviewers of books
-ASK your parents what they read at your age
-ASK the children’s librarian at your local library, below are some links to your public libraries
Below is a way to try and help you organize WHAT you want to READ…
This summer we are asking you to read at least 2 books to keep exercising your brain…to help you figure out what to read, you can go on my blog and our library’s blog for ideas. But I think the most interesting way for you to figure out what you want to read about this summer is to answer these questions:
What are you passionate or curious about? (this could be anything, authors, sports, genres, hobbies, interests)
What do you need in your life right now to fulfill this passion? (books, magazines, youtube, tutorials, field trips, virtual and real life)
Ask yourself- What do I want these books/materials to do in my life…SET your GOAL
-fill a gap: helps you fill holes in your understanding about your passion
-build a bridge: helps readers make connections to other people and their experiences
-act as a mirror: how a book may remind you or yourself and help you see things more clearly
-act as a window: can open up a world that you didn’t know existed
-become a lens: they can zoom in and let you get close to issues and topics more deeply
Now keep yourself accountable, MAKE your plan:
What books are you going to read about this summer? Make a list right here:
Book Title Rational- why did you choose this book?
How are you going to keep yourself and your friends accountable? Make a plan, put dates in your calendar, set up text “meet” ups to make sure you are still holding to your goal.- get phone numbers and dates together to check in with each other, face time…whatever you can think of to help each other out.
