Below is a way to try and help you organize WHAT you want to READ…

This summer we are asking you to read at least 2 books to keep exercising your brain…to help you figure out what to read, you can go on my blog and our library’s blog for ideas.  But I think the most interesting way for you to figure out what you want to read about this summer is to answer these questions:

What are you passionate or curious about? (this could be anything, authors, sports, genres, hobbies, interests)

What do you need in your life right now to fulfill this passion? (books, magazines, youtube, tutorials, field trips, virtual and real life)

Ask yourself- What do I want these books/materials to do in my life…SET your GOAL

-fill a gap: helps you fill holes in your understanding about your passion

-build a bridge: helps readers make connections to other people and their experiences

-act as a mirror: how a book may remind you or yourself and help you see things more clearly

-act as a window: can open up a world that you didn’t know existed

-become a lens: they can zoom in and let you get close to issues and topics more deeply

Now keep yourself accountable, MAKE your plan:

What books are you going to read about this summer? Make a list right here:

Book Title                                                      Rational- why did you choose this book?

How are you going to keep yourself and your friends accountable?  Make a plan, put dates in your calendar, set up text “meet” ups to make sure you are still holding to your goal.- get phone numbers and dates  together to check in with each other, face time…whatever you can think of to help each other out.

Princess Sonora and the Long Sleep by Gail Carson Levine:

A retell of Princess Aurora. Fairies give her traits (loving heart, smart, etc).  It is a good book

The Night Fairy by Laura Amy Schlitz

A night fairy who wishes to be a day fairy.  She lives in a birdhouse near a giants home, which is actually a human, a giant to her.  This book has many animals and if you like fairy tales, you would like this.
