Ms. Kolesar

This is going to be my 7th year teaching in South Orangetown! I spent 5 of my years at Tappan Zee Elementary School and this is my second year at William O. Schaefer!! I am very excited to start a whole new year with all of you and get to know everyone! This is my first year teaching Kindergarten!

Birthday: April 23rd

Where I was born: Bronx, NY (I lived there until I was 6 years old!)

Favorite Color: Turquoise (I love anything that is bright and reminds me of the beach.)

Favorite Food: Salad (I cannot go 1 day without having one!) My favorite part of the salad is cucumbers! I could live off of them!

Favorite Book: This is tough for me. Every time I read you a story, you may hear me say, “I love this book , it is my FAVORITE!!” IF I REALLY have to choose, I would pick Strega Nona. My favorite teacher read it to me when I was in second grade and I can’t wait to read it to all of you! I also love Amelia Bedelia books. She is a very funny character.

Favorite Subject: Math – I love to teach it!

Favorite Snack: I really love Sweet Maui Onion potato chips and Cheesecake! Recently, I love eating Butternut Squash Tortilla chips. They are DELICIOUS! I also love eating celery and carrots and dipping them into ranch dressing! YUM!

Favorite Season: Fall. I love the colors of the leaves and the cool breeze! I also love summer because I love the beach and listening to the waves crashing. It is so relaxing. Once you see the classroom, you will understand my love for the ocean!

Favorite Spot: San Diego, California! It’s so beautiful and peaceful! I have a favorite Seafood place I like to go to for Shrimp Tacos!

You are going to learn a lot more about me as the year goes on! I cannot wait to meet everyone!

  1. Dear Ms. Kolesar,

Hi! I am Julian’s mom! I just had a question about homework for class. The school Jules came from had a homework portal and I was not sure if you had one. We looked over your blog (which is so cute!) to see but couldn’t find anything. Julian was not sure about what to do with “Starfish of the Week” and we didn’t want him to turn it in blank, he is very efficient in doing his homework which makes us happy but we didn’t want him to worry about it.

Anyway – that is why I am writing and to say hello as we have not had the chance to meet”)

    Thank you kindly,
    Lydia Joyner

    • Hi! So excited to have Julian in class! I realized that he left his homework helper in his mailbox today! One will be sent home every night!

The starfish of the week is where the children write a compliment for the child who is starfish of the week and then draw a picture. Jeff is the starfish of the week. Julian is still getting to know everyone so if that is something he cannot complete, that’s okay!

I look forward to meeting you!

      Warmly,
      Ms. Kolesar
