A pentomino is a shape made up of five smaller squares. There are 12 different shaped pentominoes in total. You can use pentominoes to create many different shapes.
Pentominoes are an ideal tool for developing spatial reasoning, learning about tessellating and symmetry, both rotational and line symmetry.
Today you will use pentominoes to solve for various shapes and then find the perimeter and area of those shapes by examining the pentomino pieces.
