Seasons, geography, constellations, circumference, and Stonehenge – This video explains the strange movements of the sun.
The software you see on the computer is called Stellarium. For $1.99 you can download the app called Stellarium Mobile. Stellarium Mobile is a fully featured planetarium. It shows realistic night sky map in 3D, just like what you see with your eyes, binoculars, or a telescope.
I thought it was cool how on the longest day of the year the sun went in a long arc, but on the shortest day of the year it barely goes above the horizon. I wish I had that same software on my computer!
This is a very cool software. I also found it interesting during the year the sun does a complete figure eight. Also, I have been to Stonehenge in London England, but have never knew that from the entrance you can see the sun rising.
Wow Toby, stonehenge sounds like a really cool place. I have seen pictures and I wish I could go!
It’s cool how the sun never rises or sets in the same place. It’s all based on the timing, day, and year and since in different places the time, day, and year is different, you can see, everything relies on the time, day, and year.
The video was great, but my favorite fact was that on only two days the sun rises exactly east. Also, I agree that the computer system is pretty amazing.
It was interesting to learn that even though the sun is as far north as it’s going to get all year, it doesn’t look very high up. Also, that software is so awesome!
I found this video very interesting. My favorite part was when it showed how the Earth is tilted and how the sun pattern changes through the year. If the Earth wasn’t tilted, every day would look the same and there would be no seasons.
It is really cool that the sun doesn’t actually rise in the east and set in the west everyday. I would hate to live in the North and South pole because I don’t like the dark and during the Summer Solstice, the North Pole is always dark and during the Winter Solstice, the South Pole is always dark. (From the northern hemisphere perspective). Also, I am totally getting that app it is so cool!
