April is also known as National Poetry Month and, we’re celebrating in a bookish way.
Book Spine Poetry is simply what the title suggests. You take the spines of books and stack them in a creative way to communicate your thoughts. Here is one of my favorites by Nina Katchadourian:

RULES & PROCEDURES:
1. Get to a place with plenty of books…library, classroom, or your own bookshelf.
2. Start looking at titles, and see what strikes you. Arrange and rearrange in your head. The best part of this type of poetry is the fact that you don’t know where you’ll end up. (Don’t be afraid to use the library catalog or book stores on the web to look up titles with specific words or phrases that fit.)
3. TWIST…your poem must have something to do with EARTH DAY!
4. Stack your books, snap your photo, and record your poem.
5. Comment to this post with your poem and picture. Use your first name last initial, your teacher’s email, and website is blank.
6. Make sure your photo is resized or you will have issues uploading. Here is a tutorial: How to Resize Images.
DUE DATE: MONDAY, APRIL 23rd
We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
