I found this bridge to be interesting because the Golden Gate Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Golden Gate, the opening of the San Francisco Bay into the Pacific Ocean.

I have chosen the London Bridge. There is two London Bridges. one is in London and the other one is in Arizona. I will do the one that is in London. London Bridge refers to several bridges that have spanned the River Thames between the City of London and Southwark, in central London. The current crossing, which opened to traffic in 1973, is a box girder bridge constructed from concrete and steel. It replaced a 19th-century stone-arched bridge, which in turn superseded a 600-year-old medieval structure. This was preceded by a succession of timber bridges; the first was built by the Roman founders of London.
The current bridge still stands at the western end of the Pool of London but it is positioned 30 metres (98 ft) upstream from the original alignment. The traditional ends of the medieval bridge were marked by St Magnus-the-Martyr on the northern bank and Southwark Cathedral on the southern shore. Until Putney Bridge opened in 1729, London Bridge was the only road-crossing of the Thames downstream of Kingston-upon-Thames.
The modern bridge is owned and maintained by Bridge House Estates, an independent charity overseen by the City of London Corporation. The A3, which it carries, is maintained by the Greater London Authority.[2] The crossing also delineates an area along the southern bank of the River Thames, between London Bridge and Tower Bridge, that has been designated as a business improvement district.
I chose this bridge because I thought it is a very interesting bridge. Here is a link to learn more about it…

Thats cool! I learned new facts i did not know. The London Bridge seems cool! Do you know that they used to display heads of traitors on the bridge?
I did not know that. I would hate to loose my head!
Awesome job Emma! You took so much hard work in making that!
Thank you for the complement. You did a great job too!
That sounds like an awesome bridge!!! But about how many people go across the London bridge in one day?
I don’t know. I will try to find out for you.

The bridge I am researching is the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. I’m doing the Tower bridge over the Thames river in London. The Tower bridge was built in 1886 and was finished in 1894. The bridge consists of two towers tied together at the upper level by means of two horizontal walkways. The bascule pivots and operating machinery are housed in the base of each tower. The bridge is 800 feet in length with two towers that each are 213 feet high, built on piers. I wanted to do the bridge because I’ve seen it and walked across it.
Here you can learn more information about the Tower Bridge:

The Stari Most
The Stari Most is an arch bridge that is located in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It crosses the Neretva River and was built by the Ottaman Turks in 1566 and was there for 427 years. That’s more than 4 centuries!!! But then it was destroyed in 1993 during the Bosnian War. As a result of the destruction, they decided to rebuild the bridge. After years of hard work, the new bridge finally opened in 2004. This bridge was made of tenelia stone from local quarries. As a tradition, young men at times jump off the bridge into the water. To conclude the Stari Most is truly an amazing and interesting bridge.

Akashi Kaikyo Bridge is in Japan. It links the island of Awaji and the mainland city of Kobe, a distance of four miles. The concept of building a bridge across the Akashi Straits became urgent after a tragic disaster in 1955. A ferry crossing the Akashi Strait was carrying over one hundred children. It collided with another ferry in the busy shipping lane. One hundred and sixty eight children and adults died in that disaster. Political pressure for a bridge increased and in 1988 the construction of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge began.

The bridge I researched is the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. The reason I chose this was because it is 29,040 feet long. It is in St. Petersburg and Bradenton, Florida, USA. It finished in 1987 and was made by Figg & Muller Engineering Group. The cost of it was $244 million. It might be the most well known of the several cable stayed bridges that have been built in the US since the late 1970s. The bridge is not the first bridge to cross the mouth of the Tampa Bay.
