Clubs

Cottage Lane provides several opportunities for students to participate in different groups and activities throughout the school year. Club descriptions and registration information is shared with families in September.

Grade 3

Art & Social Action Club (Grades 3-5)
Students create posters and signs to raise awareness of current social issues, both globally and in our community. This artwork enhances our school environment and supports school functions. Students are involved in topics, creating art and displaying art in our school.

Chess Club
Chess Club is open to all third-graders, from those who have never played before to experienced Grandmasters–and everyone in between!

Scientist Study Hall (Grades 3 & 4)
Have you ever wondered how scientists learn about their favorite topics? Or where they come up with their ideas for their experiments? This is your chance to look closer at the books that sparked those ideas! Scientist Study Hall members dive into nonfiction texts and learn to use their knowledge to spark their own ideas.

Video Production Club
Members of the Video Production Club learn to write a script, shoot and edit a short movie.

ZeeBitsters
Spark your inner inventor with Cottage Lane’s Littlebits club! Littlebits are small magnetic circuit modules that snap together to perform tasks and create inventions. Each month, a group of students will build inventions as part of a Littlebits challenge!

Grade 4

Basic Robotics Club members design and build various types of Lego robots.

Book Club
The best part about being in a book club is getting to spend time with friends talking about stories! The 4th Grade Book Club is the place to be to have fun reading short nonfiction and fiction texts.

Chess Strategy Club
Have fun while learning strategies to improve your chess game!

Competition Robotics Club (Grades 4 & 5)
A team of 10 students train with Lego Mindstorms and compete in a robotics meet.

Heart Inspiration Mind (HIM) Boys Running Society
The HIM Running Society isn’t just about running! Expect fun-filled lessons and activities that make the connection between physical activity and a healthy lifestyle. All fifth-grade boys are welcome to join, including beginners who don’t participate in athletic activities, as well as children who are experienced runners/athletes–and everyone in between!

Soul Heart Energy (SHE) Girls Running Club
The SHE Running Club inspires girls to be both emotionally and physically fit! All fifth-grade girls are welcome to join, including beginners who don’t participate in athletic activities, as well as children who are experienced runners/athletes–and everyone in between!
