Gratitude is being aware of and being thankful for the good things that happen; taking time to express thanks.

AMERICA
GRATEFUL

Grateful: A Love Song to the World – Musicians Patel and Nahmod brought dozens of people from around the world to create this song. They were inspired by the 21-Day Gratitude Challenge, and the song is a celebration of all that is a blessing in life. After 21 Days, people learn that “gratefulness” is a habit cultivated consciously and a muscle built over time. This music video, created within a week by a team of volunteers, displays all this is beautiful in our lives.

Thanksgiving is a great time of year to express gratitude.Practicing gratitude is easy and even comes with science-backed benefits.  According to researchgratitude practice decreases stress and negative thinking as it increases happiness and social intelligence. How about that? Sometimes we spend days wallowing in negative thoughts and need to actually remind ourselves of life’s joys. There is so much good in each day, but we are usually just too distracted to see it.

Gratitude is Good for You

Let’s start by thanking Veterans.  Sunday, November 11th is Veterans Day.  Our book of the month, America’s White Table. It is important that Americans give thanks for their freedom. The perfect way to do this is by thanking our active troops, our veterans, our heroes. It is important to show gratitude toward those who serve. Listen to the significance of each item placed on the table  and how Katie comes to understand and appreciate the depth of sacrifice that her uncle, members of the Armed Forces and their families have to make.

Gratitude Meditation

Another way you can boost your gratitude is by spending a few minutes out of your day devoted to gratitude. Mr. Jones and Mrs. King will walk a through a gratitude meditation today.

Here’s the perfect mindfulness activity for showing gratitude. It’s called the gratitude tree, and we will definitely be growing one in Cottage Lane. The gratitude tree will show everyone that we appreciate the small things in life, are grateful for everything they have, are mindful of the things that are going right in their lives and hold people in our lives close to our hearts.

  • For 21 days, you will write down what you are grateful for.
  • After you complete 7, your will receive a leaf from your teacher.
  • Write your name on the leaf.
  • Add your leaf to our gratitude tree.
  • Watch our tree flourish!

We are kicking off the annual SAC Cottage Lane Food Drive.  Join us for fitness and fundraising!
