Lucia McCahill has been approved by the Board of Education as Acting Assistant Principal at Cottage Lane Elementary School effective September 11, 2020. McCahill will assume the duties of Rob Schliessman, who is Acting Principal at William O. Schaefer Elementary School while Sheila Beglin is on maternity leave.
McCahill, a seasoned educator with more than 20 years of experience, has served as a Reading Specialist at WOS since 2004 and is a member of the school- and district-level Response to Intervention leadership teams, Extended Leadership Committee, WOS Data Inquiry Team and WOS Building Level Committee. As an Educational Leadership intern last year, McCahill worked collaboratively with the building leadership at WOS and the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction on projects which included master scheduling, incoming kindergarten placement, bus safety and dismissal protocols, new teacher orientation and professional development. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Scranton, a Master of Science degree in Reading Education from Adelphi College and a Certificate of Advanced Study in School Administration and Supervision through SUNY New Paltz.
“We are so excited to have Lucia join the Cottage Lane community! She knows our students and it will be wonderful for them to see a familiar face,” said Principal Karen Ramirez. “Lucia has been getting to know our staff and our building and is a wonderful addition to our CLE team for the start of the school year!”
