Cottage Lane Elementary School fourth-grader Arturo “Cuatro” G. participates in numerous service projects through the Boy Scouts and a local food pantry, but it’s the sense of community that he brings to school that has earned him Upstander recognition! “Cuatro looks out for his classmates and is a very good friend,” says teacher Camille Viola. “He also looks for kids who are sitting alone at lunch and asks them to join him.” Congratulations, Cuatro!
This is the first year that Cottage Lane Elementary School has participated in the New York Jets and Stomp Out Bullying’s Upstander of the Week program, which aims to reduce and prevent bullying nationwide. Those recognized receive a t-shirt, two tickets to a Jets home game and a parking pass.
