Cottage Lane Elementary School

Families, faculty, administrators and Board of Education members joined Cottage Lane Elementary School for its 2018 Fifth Grade Moving Up Ceremony on June 20 at Tappan Zee High School. Aidan F. led guests in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and the Fifth-Grade Chorus, under the direction of Music Teacher Lisa Kahn, kicked off the celebration with performances of the The Star-Spangled Banner and The Power of One.

Principal Karen Ramirez commended students and urged them to be advocates for positive change. “We need people like you. We need people who dream.” South Orangetown Middle School Assistant Principal Chad Corey welcomed the incoming sixth-graders and SOCES PTA Vice President (CLE) Liz Dudley urged the students to continue being kind. One representative from each class called classmates to the stage to receive their advancement certificate and shake hands with Mrs. Ramirez, School Psychologist Linda King and their teacher.

Mrs. King presented James B. with the Lori McGrath Character Education Award, which is given to a student who demonstrates respect, responsibility, kindness and integrity. Students are nominated by their teacher for this recognition, which is given in memory of Lori McGrath, a teacher who championed CLE’s character education program.

Congratulations to the rising South Orangetown Middle School sixth-graders/Tappan Zee High School’s Class of 2025!
