Information for Home & Away Sporting Events

Message from SOCSD & the Athletic Department

Tappan Zee High School will begin home contests this weekend for the interscholastic athletic program! Here are some things to know:

  • Two spectators permitted per student athlete for home games only
    • The TZ Athletic Department requests that the names of the two spectators and their email addresses be sent to the team coach within 24 hours of the contest.
    • Spectators will be sent a pre-screening form which must be completed before entry and will enable the Athletic Department to maintain a record of who was at the contest in the event that contact tracing information is needed.
  • All spectators will be subject to a temperature check. Locations are as follows:
    • Dutchmen Arena entrance for soccer and cross country events
    • Tennis court parking lot for tennis matches.
  • Masks must be worn at all times and spectators may only sit or stand in designated, marked areas to ensure social distancing.
  • Bathrooms access will be available at the outdoor fieldhouse only.

The TZ Athletic Department will allow parents/guardians to drive their own children to and from away contests, if necessary. The protocol is for the parent/guardian to email the coach and Athletic Director Bill Pilla (wpilla@socsd.org) with the request. Parents/guardians who wish to have their student athlete drive themselves must refer to the revised Transportation section of the Athletics Handbook and submit the Student Athlete Self-Transportation Request Form.

As per Section 1, our governing body, no away fans are allowed at this time to Section 1 sporting events. If you are driving your child to an away game, please keep in mind you will not be allowed to stay at the contest. View the Section 1 news release here.

Please contact Athletic Director Bill Pilla with questions at wpilla@socsd.org or (845) 680-1640.
