Tree Dedication Ceremony/End of Year Celebration

We culminated our Earth System unit with a tree planting ceremony on Wednesday, June 7th. With funds provided by a grant from NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the efforts of the Cottage Lane custodians, Rob Smith and Greg Galli, four trees were planted in the “outdoor classroom” space which was recently installed with PTA funds. Now, the trees will provide much needed shade for the patio and picnic tables and benches which are to be installed. In addition, the trees will reduce the carbon dioxide in our local air for years to come.

Students welcomed everyone to the tree dedication ceremony and described the work and projects we had completed throughout the year to arrive at that special day. Of course, the students shared reasons why we decided to plant the trees with the reduction in carbon dioxide being paramount. Following the dedication ceremony, we celebrated the end of the year with a western-themed picnic lunch and old fashioned games. Nothing like the great outdoors for building memories to last a lifetime!
