Provides a continuum of behavioral health, social services and educational support to Rockland County children and teenagers who are struggling academically, socially and emotionally. An interdisciplinary team of highly-trained, multilingual experts from the Rockland County Department of Mental Health, the Rockland County Department of Social Services, the Rockland County Department of Probation, the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office and Rockland BOCES works closely with the youth, the family, the school district and existing providers to address their unique – and, often unmet – needs.

VCS, Inc. provides counseling services to adults and children ages 12 and up in its General Counseling Program, and mental health treatment and psychiatric services to adults and children ages 10 and up in its Mental Health Clinic. This is a multilingual agency with services provided in Spanish and other languages, including Creole.

Runs immunization and medical clinics for children ages 5-18 and adults, including those who are uninsured, underinsured or on Medicaid.

Starting in the 2019-2020 school year in New York State, any non-medical reason to not get all vaccinations, is no longer accepted. Religious exemptions are no longer allowed. This new law requires all students in public, private, and religious schools from daycare through grade 12 to be immunized. Rockland BOCES offers English as a Second Language (ESOL), High School Equivalency (TASC) and career training courses. ESOL classes are held in Nyack, Spring Valley, Haverstraw and Suffern and offered during the day, evening and on weekends.

DSS offers a wide range of eligibility programs and services to families and individuals to assist them in meeting their basic needs for food, shelter and medical care.

WIC: Nutrition Assistance Program for Women, Infants and Children

WIC is a federal program for participants who qualify based on financial and medical or nutritional need. This program serves women who are pregnant, mothers of babies up to six months old, breastfeeding mothers of children up to 12 months old, and children under the age of five. Checks are issued to purchase supplemental nutritious foods, such as milk, cheese, eggs, cereal, juice, fruits, and vegetables. Fruit and vegetable checks are also accepted at some local farmers’ markets. Breastfeeding education and support is provided by International Board Certified Lactation Consultants. Registered dietitians, nutritionists and breastfeeding peer counselors are also on staff. WIC sites in Rockland are located in Spring Valley, Monsey, New Square, Haverstraw, and Nyack.
